The automatic winding movement from the new 32000 series manufacturing caliber debuted in the case of the Pilot’s Clone China Watch Automatic Spitfire.
It is wrapped with IWC’s equally popular manual winding Calibre 89, which has a soft iron inner shell to protect it from the adverse effects of magnetism. The boldly designed dial is legible both day and night. The Mark XII with automatic movement and date followed close behind, but connoisseurs had to wait until 1994 to make its final appearance.

The name “Spitfire” first appeared at the turn of the millennium. Its pale dial is considered “a more elegant sign”, but it is somewhat overshadowed by the 14th generation incarnation of the classic pilot watch.
